Larry J. Foster*

Larry is the founder and Chairman Emeritus of Foster Financial Group. In a successful career that spanned over fifty years, Larry made it his mission to give back to his colleagues.

Larry began his insurance and financial services career in 1963. He served as president of the Dallas and State General Agents and Managers Association (SWGAMA) from 1978 to 1982. In 1994, SWGAMA presented Larry with the Trail Boss Award, created to recognize individuals who have served “above and beyond the call of duty.” It is the highest honor SWGAMA can bestow on one of its own.

Larry has received numerous insurance industry awards including the American Salesmaster Oscar of the Year in 1969 for outstanding sales and agency building. Larry was the featured speaker on the Texas Sales Caravan in 1983, entitling him to induction into TALU’s distinguished Amalgamated Order of Trained Seals.

In addition to founding Foster Financial Group, Larry is cofounder, partner and Chairman of the Foster-Cary Corporation, Planned Benefits, Inc., Foster-Cary Agency, Inc., Foster Commercial, Inc., and Foster-Cary Financial Planners, Inc. He was organizing director of Signature Bank and an early organizer of Cornerstone Bank.

Larry was a member of the Board of Directors of the School of Insurance and Financial Services at the University of Houston and a board member of the Texas Cradle Society adoption agency. He was a longtime member of the Rotary Club of Dallas, the Greater Dallas Crime Commission, Greater Dallas Chamber, and The National Speakers Association. He now enjoys spending time with his wide circle of friends, family, and dog, Bitsy.

Joe Foster*, CFP®

Joe works with successful individuals and families to protect their legacies, make working for money optional, and strategize their Charitable Planning in order to redirect tax dollars to the causes they care about.

Joe’s father, Larry, founder of Foster Financial Group, encouraged him from an early age to pursue financial services and personal and business development. After earning a degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin in 1983, he joined Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. (now KPMG) as a CPA before entering the field of financial services in 1987.

In 2020, Joe was awarded the Lester. A Rosen Humanitarian and Achievement Award. This award honors exceptional achievement, outstanding character and integrity, and a generous lifestyle of giving in service to humanity.

Joe enjoys exercising and playing golf, but his real passion is his relationships with friends, clients, and, most important, his family. He and his wife, Kelly, have been happily married since 1988 and have three daughters and one son-in-law, Taylor, Hayden, and Chandler and Riley Maxwell.

He is deeply devoted to participating in local and international outreaches. His involvement in ministries such as e3 Partners, I Am Second, Amazon Outreach, East-West Ministries, and Strategic Impact, take him all over the world sharing the love of Christ. Joe also supports the Abiding Fathers ministry and he and Kelly are members of Grace Bible Church.

Joe holds Series 7, 65 and 63 licenses through Ameritas Investment Company, LLC. He also holds the Life and Health Insurance License issued by the Texas Department of Insurance.

Christi Barnes*

Christi worked with wealth management advisors for more than twenty years before joining Foster Financial Group in 2011. She provides exceptional client service and brings her years of experience to bear in all aspects of operations, new business processing, leading... compliance, regulatory responsibilities, and much more. Christi’s multi-faceted expertise helps her become knowledgeable in complex situations and a critical resource for the Foster Financial team.

Christi’s visits to her mom’s office at Merrill Lynch ignited her interest in financial services at an early age. In those days, a ticker-tape banner stretched across the wall, and associates communicated with squawk boxes. Fortunately, technology has come a long way.

As a member of Women in Network, a Network of Community Ministries auxiliary, she lends her energy and experience to raising money for children in need, providing school supplies and toys in addition to food, clothing, and other necessities.

Christi and her husband, John have been married for over twenty-five years. They live in Richardson, where they enjoy spending time with their families, going to concerts and festivals, and including their beloved dog in all their outdoor activities.

Christi holds her Series 7, 63 & 65 securities registrations with Ameritas Investment Company, LLC.

John joined Foster Financial Group in 2009, bringing with him his professional experience in advising affluent individuals and families. He works closely with their trusted tax and legal advisors on all matters including tax and estate planning ..., the sale of privately held businesses, division of financial assets in divorce, and liquidation of concentrated stock positions.

Prior to joining Foster Financial Group, John was a Vice President and Financial Advisor with Bernstein Global Wealth Management where he became an expert in client excellence, professional relationships, and navigating the multifaceted complexities of wealth management.

Outside of work, John pursues Krav Maga, a form of self-defense that provides physical and mental training with a focus on real-world situations and extreme efficiency. Relaxation involves playing golf and spending time with his two daughters. He is an active patron of Billy’s Wish, a charitable organization that works with young people to combat knife crime and promote positive activities.

John holds the Series 7 and Series 66 licenses with FINRA and Ameritas Investment Company, LLC. He is a member of the Institute for Certified Divorce Financial Analysts™ and holds the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst™ designation. He also holds the Life and Health Insurance License issued by the Texas Department of Insurance.

Shawn provides wealth management and retirement income strategies for business owners, professionals, and individuals. He provides his clients the advantage of a wide range of experience that spans over thirty years in financial services.

After obtaining his BA in Economics from Southern Methodist University, Shawn entered the financial services industry in 1987. His entrepreneurial spirit was fueled early in life by his dad, founder Larry Foster. He and his brother, Joe, did everything from door-to-door sales to bussing tables. They built a moderately successful lawn maintenance business—Shawn's Lawns, which they later sold for a tidy profit—their first business success.

With roots in North Texas over one hundred years deep, Shawn is a believer in community involvement. He is an Eagle Scout, and he still finds a deep sense of purpose in helping people. He serves in various capacities at Men of Nehemiah, Watermark Community Church and Bill Glass Behind the Walls. He is a lifetime member of The North Dallas Chamber of Commerce and a member of The Rotary Club of Park Cities. In addition, he served on the board of the Plano Rotary.

Shawn is married to Kimberly and is the proud father of Wade, Annie, and Stuart and proud stepfather of Andi and Nick.

Shawn is an Investment Advisory Representative with Ameritas Investment Company, LLC with Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP) designations. He holds the Series 6, 7, 63, 26, and 65 securities registrations.

Mark Mundy has been a financial advisor since 1988, when he joined Equitable/AXA in Dallas, Texas. In 2003, he formed Mundy Financial Solutions and joined Foster Financial Group as an Investment Advisor Representative. Shortly after joining the firm, he took on the Foster Financial Group moniker.

Mark’s interest in the financial world began when he purchased his first stock—Disney—at age twelve, but his fascination with rocks and fossils won out, and he earned a degree in Geology at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. Soon after graduation, he followed in his father’s footsteps and joined Equitable/AXA, where his father had a long and successful career.

Since 1992, Mark has hosted the Friday afternoon drive-time segment of Texas Renegade Radio on KNON 89.3. It’s one of the longest-running radio shows in Dallas, the fifth largest radio market in the US.

He serves on the board of Chase’s Place, a private, nonprofit school serving students with moderate to severe developmental disabilities. He is also president of the North Texas Music Foundation and in his spare time, he enjoys welding and working with metal.

Mark is a lifelong resident of the Dallas area (he graduated from Hillcrest High School). When he isn’t exploring the back roads of Texas and seeking out great live music, he's enjoying time in Taos, New Mexico.

Mark holds his Series 6, 7, 63, and 65 securities registrations, Texas insurance and Texas real estate licenses, as well as a private pilot license.

Brian devotes his career to helping clients navigate the investment world while achieving what is important to them financially. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, he assists in building... financial plans as well as overseeing investment consulting and management for clients.

Brian earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Baylor University, with majors in Finance and Financial Services Planning. He then worked for an investment advisor in Dallas, expanding his knowledge and expertise in trading options before joining Foster Financial Group in 2008.

In addition to overseeing investment management at Foster Financial Group, Brian is deeply dedicated to his family, his community, and the industry he serves. He volunteers as a teacher for Junior Achievement in Dallas, is a member of the Exchange Club of Lake Highlands, and the Financial Planning Association, where he serves on the membership committee.

Brian’s time is devoted to his wife, Jacy, and daughters Blakely and Sadie. Brian and Jacy invest their time in others by serving in the newlywed ministry at Park Cities Baptist Church, and Brian enjoys coaching his daughters’ sports teams. Brian loves good barbecue, golfing, hunting, and spending time in the outdoors.

Nick joined Foster Financial Group in 2023 with the goal of helping clients pursue financial security and peace of mind in what can seem like an overly complex financial landscape. Through comprehensive financial planning based on... each client’s unique goals and values, Nick seeks to help clients spend appropriately, save wisely, and give generously.

Prior to joining Foster Financial Group, Nick worked in professional accounting at KPMG in Dallas, helped run his family’s business in Tyler, and served as a pastor in San Jose and Dallas. Nick is able to leverage his diverse professional experiences to provide a unique blend of financial knowledge and genuine care for clients.

Nick lives in Lake Highlands with his wife, Caroline, and their three children: Ellie, Harrison, and Libby. Nick loves being outside, learning, having intentional conversations with friends, and hanging out with his family. When he isn’t spending time with his family or working, Nick can often be found serving at his church, White Rock Fellowship.

Nick holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master in Professional Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin, as well as a Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

Jake plays an integral part in Foster Financial Group’s continuing commitment to providing a wide array of financial services to clients. Jake joined the team in October 2020 with the goal of elevating the already high level of service Foster Financial provides to its clients.

As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and CPA, he is committed to helping clients optimize their finances so they can focus more on their families, businesses and causes they care about most.

Jake earned his Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Accountancy from Baylor University in 2015. While at Baylor, Jake was selected to join the BEST program, an accelerated strategic management course of the top, academically excellent students. After graduating from Baylor, he started financial planning in 2018 after spending 2 years in KPMG Nashville’s Audit practice. While in Nashville, Jake joined the Young Leaders Council and served on the Metro Nashville Young Life Committee.

As a people person by nature, Jake saw wealth management as a great opportunity to add value to individuals with his technical expertise and doing what he loves most, building relationships. He currently serves on the early professionals Advisory Board for the Baylor University Accounting department where he focuses on highlighting non-Big 4 career paths to accounting majors.

When he’s not building financial plans, he loves spending time outside with his wife, Maddie, three sons, Calvin, Everett and Archie, and their friends in Dallas.

Tanja’s is the friendly voice you hear when you call Foster Financial Group, and when clients come to the office, she makes them feel at home. Tanja sees to countless administrative details such as scheduling client meetings, assisting with client paperwork... ,spearheading the Christmas raffle, and organizing every detail of the events Foster Financial Group hosts for its clients.

Before her time at Foster Financial Group, Tanja served as a children’s pastor at her church for over a decade, co-owned an interior design firm, and served in the Mortgage/Foreclosure department at Wells-Fargo. The Foster Financial team gained a huge asset when she joined the team in 2016.

When she is not at the office, Tanja loves spending time with her family and friends. Tanja and her husband attend Gateway Church and are passionate supporters of The Mission of Grace in Carries, Haiti, through whom they sponsor a missionary as well as a child of Grace Orphanage. Texas born and raised, she and her husband of 31 years love spending time with their three grown children and six grandchildren.
